Convert an item or focus area

Conversions are available in a limited preview. Saved Scales, Arpeggios, and Chords presets and their focus areas cannot be converted.

To change a category, library connection, or practice settings, use Edit item.

Convert an item to a focus area

1. Open the item’s actions and choose Convert to focus area.
2. Select a destination item and review the focus area’s title.
3. Review the conversion and confirm.

Practice history and direct notes move to the new focus area; labels are added to the destination. Existing focus areas move alongside it. The original item is permanently removed, and its settings and media links do not carry over.

If the item has practice history, the destination must have the same instrument, including no instrument.

Convert a focus area to an item

1. Open the focus area’s actions and choose Convert to My Music item.
2. Review the title, instrument, optional library connection or preset, and practice settings.
3. Select Review conversion, then confirm Add item.

The focus area’s share of practice history and its direct notes move to the new item. The original focus area is permanently removed; its measure range and position do not carry over. Other items and focus areas in those sessions stay unchanged.

With practice history, the new item keeps its parent’s instrument, including no instrument. Without history, you can choose another instrument. If the library connection is already used, Cadenso offers to open the existing item instead.
