Focus areas are smaller parts or goals inside an item in My Music. A focus area can represent a phrase or measure range in repertoire, a recurring goal inside a technique, or any smaller part of a General item. Use focus areas to organize details and notes separately, and connect them to practice sessions when useful.
Add a focus area
- Open the item in My Music.
- Find Focus areas and choose Add focus area.
- Enter a title.
- Optionally add a description and use its toolbar for bold or italic text, lists, and checklists. Add the other details available for that item, and use Order to control where the focus area appears under its parent item.
- Save the focus area.
Focus areas with an order are listed from the lowest number to the highest. Focus areas without an order appear after them.
Enter measure numbers and order as whole numbers.
Each focus area under an item needs a distinct title. Capitalization and extra spaces do not create a different title, and archived focus areas keep their names. Use a name such as “Opening 2” when you intentionally want another separate area. The same title can still be used under a different item.
Open a focus area to start practice for that exact part, review its logs and notes, edit it, or archive it.
In Notes, use All, Focus area, and Sessions to switch between every related note, notes added directly to the focus area, and notes saved with practice sessions that included it.
Archiving a focus area removes it from active selection without removing its existing practice history, notes, or statistics. Archived focus areas remain available from their parent item and can be restored.
